Two of our publications: Dublin work (2005-2008) and a publication made during our residency at Rirkrit Tiravanija's The Land can be found at The Dublin Art Book fair at Temple Bar Gallery. This fair is a project that aims to publicise and distribute art books and publications in Dublin. Over the first weekend in December, The gallery at TBG+S, in the heart of Dublin’s cultural quarter, will become a market fair at which over twenty publishers from Ireland and abroad specialising in art books will be represented. TBG+S invites you to come and browse the extensive range of unique books and publications, which will be for sale.

TRESPASS 'Hoarding Site' @ TULCA Galway

Tulca: ‘Hoarding Site’
This work installed for Tulca shows 4 films made in a site off Miltary Road, Kilmainham. The films are imbedded in a hoarding that takes on the boat shape of the original hoarding on Military Road ‘Hoarding walker’ sees the performer cautiously circumnavigating the top of the narrow hoarding. ‘Crawl’ is an attempted re-enactment of the walk but the hoarding has become precarious and the performer is only now able to crawl. ‘Stalker Re-enactment’, re-enacts a scene from Tarkovsky’s famous film, where his character the Stalker enters ‘the zone’. For ‘Fire’ the site becomes temporarily inhabited, a fire is built, the dusk sounds and light recorded and the Trespass crew share Nettle tea.

TRESPASS in 'Space is the Place'

Space is the Place is an exhibition of documentation of artistic practices which intervene in public space. The focus is on ephemeral, temporary works which take place out of a gallery setting, living on only in their documentation.

Invited artists will send documentation of their work as images, texts and video directly to the gallery electronically where the material will be printed out and displayed on walls and screens by the curatorial team with the exhibition being produced in the gallery during it's run.

A submission / suggestion system utilising social networking site Facebook, Del.icio.us and Twitter will also be provided. . The exhibition will have a reading room aesthetic with comfortable seating and texts laid out on trestle tables. Visitors will be encouraged to sit and browse the documentation on offer and engage with the exhibition personnel. At the end of the exhibition the documentation will be collected and archived as a resource.

TRESPASS is a collaborative art project by Aoife Desmond and Seoidín O'Sullivan that engages research and action with forgotten urban landscapes

Exhibition continues to 18 April 2009

TRESPASS investigate and intervene in disused urban space. They research and reveal the delicate balance between nature and the built environment. TRESPASS investigates the different issues around land use and ownership through documentation and performative actions. This project was initiated in Dublin where the two artists are based. They have been working with several sites in Dublin over the last 3 years. TRESPASS was awarded a Project New Work Award from the Arts Council in 2007. Aoife and Seoidín participated in The One Year Project 2 at The Land Foundation, Thailand for 2 months in 2008 where they developed a new body of work in response to their time there.

Field recordings and sound design by sound artist Sven Anderson, film editing by Aoibheann O'Sullivan, additional camera work by Ed Cunniffe and Ralph Borland.

Gallery Talk: Tuesday 7 April 2009

Stalker/Observatorie Nomade are an architectural collective based in Rome who explore nomadic possibilities within the urban environment. For this talk/event Francesco Careri and Lorenzo Romito will present Stalker/Observatorie. Aoife Desmond and Seoidín O'Sullivan will guide the event. The intention is to create an engaged discussion into the functions and potentials of wasteland sites in cities.

An exhibition of both Thai and International artists participating in the One-Year Project 2 residency program at the land foundation. From
the land to Siam Square explores the varied perspectives of 11 visual artists inspired by the land. Each artist investigates how the

'Tools of the Trade' is an exhibition by the participants from One Year Project 2 at The Land Foundation. There are 12 artists (both Thai and International) exhibiting in the show, each are taking part either full time or part-time in the experimental art project/ social community that is 'The Land'. This exhibition is dynamic combination of playful and critical explorations.

At 'The Land'

This image shows 'Trespass' camped at 'The Land'. I sleep on Rirkrit's Tiravanija's structure to the left and Aoife is camped on Angkrit Ajchariyasophon's structure to the right. We are currently investigating 'wilderness' sites in and around 'The Land Foundation's' office in Chaing Mai. Some of these sites are used to temporarily house migrant laborers (largely illegal Burmese workers) who are working on construction sites in and around the city we are in the process of developing work for an exhibition Tools of The Trade on the 16 September in The Minimal Gallery, Chaing Mai and work for a show in 'The White Space' gallery in Bangkok in October along with the other One year project2 participants.

The Land Foundation invited Carl Michael von Hausswolff and Jan Håfström to give a lecture to the one year project participants at the Rikrit Tiravanija's home. We are invited to present our Trespass project to everyone that evening.

On our way to Thailand Aoife and I stay at ADM for 2 nights with Aoife's friend emma, a dancer who lives here on a permanent basis. ADM is a site on the docks( an old shipping yard) in Amsterdam that has been squatted for the last 10 years by self titled cultural workers. There are 150 people that live here on a permanent basis. The placement of the housing structures is haphazard with no seeming organisation. We document the site and talk to emma about her experiences of living here over the last 5 years.

An informal Discussion will be held in the LAB on Wednesday 9th July at 6.30pm hosted by 'Trespass'. Trespass is a collaborative project between Aoife Desmond and Seoidin O'Sullivan that engages research and action with forgotten urban space, abandoned landscapes and sites under transformation within Dublin City. Methods of intervention in the sites that have been used so far include film, photography, sound and live performance/actions. Trespass will be doing a residency at 'The Land' in Thailand from 24 July until 21 September 2008 and will be exhibiting at The LAB in Febuary 2008.
The discussion will provisionally be between Trespass, curator Sarah Searson and architect Simon Walker.
